We’re Focusing On Ourselves, Says Alfreton Town Striker Shaun Harrad

SHAUN HARRAD is determined not to allow other teams’ fortunes dictate Alfreton’s promotion push in the Skrill Premier.

Alfreton sit third in the league despite a recent points deduction having won their last three encounters, including a come from behind win over in midweek.

The Reds travel to FC Halifax on Monday night in front of the television cameras, with teams being able to put the pressure on with matches on Saturday, but striker Harrad is only focusing on Alfreton.

The former Cheltenham forward said: “It doesn’t matter what other teams do on Saturday. Our only focus is on us. We can’t affect what other teams do.

“We’re sitting comfortably in the play-offs at the moment and it’s hard to throw away the type of cushion we’ve got but other teams will be fighting to get in the top five.”

Since finding out about Alfreton’s three point deduction for fielding ineligible goalkeeper Jon Worsnop they have won three on the trot, beating already relegated Hyde and struggling pair and Tamworth.

The Derbyshire side had to come from behind to beat the Lambs and Harrad, who scored Alfreton’s first goal, believes this shows what his side are about.

He added: “We are confident in our ability no matter what the situation. The win against Tamworth shows a lot about the character of the team.”
