FC UNITED striker Tom Greaves will send his ex-strike partner Lee Morris a ‘cheeky little text’ in the hope that the Buxton man will score the goal that helps his team to the Evo-Stik NPL Premier title.
Greaves, 29, thinks that the pressure is all on Chorley going into the last game of the season and United just need to stay focused on their own game against Barwell – while keeping fingers crossed that the Magpies slip up away at Buxton.
The striker, who has 34 goals this season, told The NLP: “We need a little bit of luck, we’ve got to concentrate, it’s theirs to lose and all the pressure is on them and we just need to get the three points.
“I used to play with [Buxton striker] Lee Morris and I will definitely be sending him a cheeky little text and hopefully he can pop up with a goal!”
Greaves says his electric form this season is down to being kept in the team by manager Karl Marginson even when he’s not been at his best.
“I think when I have not been playing too well I have still managed to score goals, at other clubs if I haven’t been playing well managers maybe give me a little rest, but the manager has a lot of faith in me,” he said.
