SALISBURY CITY are on the brink of following Hereford United by being kicked out of the Football Conference if they fail to pay off debts by 5pm today.
The Conference Premier Whites were taken over by supporter Mark Winter and Moroccan businessmen Otail Touzar but the latter has failed to put a single penny into the club.
Winter has plunged £75,000 into the club after they purchased it for a pound from previous William Harrison-Allan. City were understood to have debts of around £160,000 and still owe money to players and the Conference also require a bond to be paid.
Touzar bizarrely claimed the Whites had signed Saudi Arabian prince Khalid Bin Bader Alsaud but no deal can officially be done as the club are under a transfer embargo.
Winter says time is running out for the club and that he feels “embarrassed” by the situation.
“If no money comes in we’ll be kicked out of the Conference,” Winter said at a supporters’ meeting last night.
“He’s lost the fans and players. They have been asking who this idiot is. The players don’t want to work for him and neither does the manager (Mikey Harris).
“I’ve asked Otail to sign over his shares to me so others can invest, but he won’t at the moment. Therefore, I won’t allow anyone to invest while he’s got control.
“I feel embarrassed and ashamed about how this has panned out. Never in a million years did I expect this outcome.”
