THE Northern Counties East League Premier will run with 21 clubs next season after the company that owns Wakefield FC were wound-up.
Wakefield had made the Football Association aware that they would not be participating in the FA Cup or FA Vase next season along with withdrawing their membership from the NCEL.
The league itself tried to get formal resignation from the club but with the holding company Wakefield Football Development Limited being wound-up, this wasn’t achievable.
Wakefield had resigned from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League and dropped down to Step 5 at the end of last season but after agreeing a groundshare at AFC Emley, the club looks set to die.
An NCEL statement read: “The management board then attempted to secure a formal resignation from the club but failed to do so with the company owning the club being wound up at a shareholders meeting last week.
“As a result of this, the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division will operate with 21 clubs, one club short of its constitution of 22, for season 2014/15.
“No further statement on the matter will be issued by the League.”
