Hungerford Town’s Bobby Wilkinson Can’t Wait For Weymouth Test

manager Bobby Wilkinson can’t wait for the new Southern Premier season to begin, even if they do kick it off at highly fancied !

The Crusaders finished sixth last season, only missing out on a play-off spot to on goal difference. They also made it to the last 16 of the before going out to eventual finalists .

They begin the new season at the Terras on Saturday and the boss knows they must begin the campaign much better than they did last term.

“What us let down last season were the first five games,” Wilkinson, whose side won promotion from the Southern South & West in 2012-13, told The . “To not pick up a point in your first five games puts you on the back foot and it shows you how well we did last season to finish where we did.

“You’ve got to pick up points in your first few games and we are mentally prepared for Weymouth. If I pick up one point from the first five, it’ll be an improvement!

“We’ll go to Weymouth as underdogs by a mile but I’ve gone there twice as the underdog and got a 3-1 win last season and a 3-3 draw the year before that. I can’t wait for the game to begin.

“For such a small club, we just want to be competing like we do. There are a few rumours flying around that we should be up there but I don’t take any of that on board.”
