FC HALIFAX TOWN boss Neil Aspin has decided against offering Shelton Payne and Charlie Binns contracts for next season.
The pair have been on trial with the Blue Square Bet North club over the summer but did not do enough to convince Aspin to sign them up.
Meanwhile, the Shaymen have confirmed that left-back Scot McManus will undergo surgery on a groin injury.
The 23-year-old hasn’t featured in any of the club’s three pre-season friendlies this summer and is now set to miss the start of the Conference North campaign.
Speaking about the news, Aspin said: “It’s a big blow as he did very well for us last season and he’s a player that we obviously wanted to be fit for the start of the season.
“It’s not ideal but you get injuries in football, we just have to cope without Scott and look forward to him coming back.”
And commenting on who will fill in for McManus, Aspin added: “I’m always sure of who can play where and what cover I have, but whether I need to bring someone else in or use what I’ve already got, well games will dictate that.
“I have options, so I’ll decide over the next two weeks what I’m going to do.”
