Phil Babb leaves Hayes & Yeading by mutual consent

PHIL BABB has departed Conference South club after Tuesday night’s defeat to .

Despite Christian Smith’s double, United went down 3-2 at home to make it ten league games without a victory.

The result also left Hayes just one point and one position clear of the bottom two and the club announced that former Ireland international Babb left by “mutual consent”.

Director of Tristan Lewis has taken caretaker charge and the club are hoping to name a permanent successor soon with just ten games left of the season.

Chairman Tony O’Driscoll said: “Unfortunately, sometimes things don’t work out and changes need to be made, while they can still have an impact on the bigger picture.

“It’s not been an easy management baptism for Phil, with all the stuff going on in the background at the club and we wish him all the best in his future aspirations and certainly hope he won’t be a stranger to the many friends he has made here.

“But, with much hard work going on behind the scenes to secure the future of this club, I think we need a change on the pitch now to ensure that all the off the field activity isn’t in vain.”
