Scarborough Athletic searching for new local talent

are opening their doors to potential new recruits as they gear up for a promotion charge in the NPL Division One North.

The Seadogs finished just two points and one place outside the play-offs last term and will be aiming to go one better next season and earn promotion to Step 3.

The trial will be held on the grass pitch at the University of Hull’s Scarborough Campus on Filey Road on Saturday July 4, with trialists put through their paces in a match situation.

Joint-manager Bryan Hughes is eager to see any local players who think they can make a difference for Scarborough next season.

“We would welcome applications from players recently released from League clubs who are looking to get back into , plus any players in who would like to be part of what we are building here at Scarborough Athletic,” he said.

“Also any local players who are looking to make that step up to represent their town are encouraged to apply. The club is keen to be at the heart of the community ahead of the move to Weaponness and getting local players involved is a key part of this.”

Anyone over 18 years old interested in attending the trial must apply by sending a football CV by email to [email protected] or by post to Scarborough Athletic FC (Trial), 1 Red Scar Drive, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, YO12 5RQ.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday June 26. Applicants will be informed after the closing date if they have been successful at securing a trial place.
