Pontypridd Town aiming for the best bar none on Spanish trip!

PONTYPRIDD TOWN are making sure they are in top condition to take on La Liga big boys Deportivo La Coruna later today by hitting the bar – the pasta and salad bar!

The Welsh League Division Three club are in Spain ahead of a prestigious friendly with the former Champions League semi-finalists.

Last July Ponty played Valencia and their performance, despite the 3-0 loss, was impressive enough to get another fixture booked in this summer.

The team flew out on Monday to prepare for the game at Deportivo’s reserve team ground El Mundo del Futbol. A large ‘Ponty Party’ following has also travelled to lend their support.

But, for the players, it’s been all business so far as they aim to give the best account of themselves as possible.

Manager Damien Broad, whose side have also had training sessions with Olympic gold medallist sprinter Darren Campbell, said: “We had another great day yesterday. The lads worked very hard in training and made the most of the amazing facilities at our disposal.

“We worked on shape and set pieces at the El Mundo del Futbol ahead of tomorrow’s game.

“We have seen a number of fans come out to relive the fun of last season’s tour to Valencia and we hope to reward them with a big performance from the team.”

First team coach Sam Houldsworth added: “It was great to spend another day working towards the main event. Everyone has been eating right and preparing for the challenge that lies ahead. We are extremely proud of all the players.”
