It’s been raining cats and dogs in Hampshire this week but Eastleigh’s defence has proved more than watertight following the first two weeks of the Vanarama National League.
The Spitfires netted five times without a response against Southport and Boreham Wood and look keen to build on their fourth-placed finish last term, when they were agonisingly dumped out of the play-offs by Grimsby Town.
Richard Hill’s men look serious about banishing the ghosts of last season and can prove their promotion credentials further when they welcome Lincoln City at Ten Acres tomorrow.
The hosts did the double over Lincoln last season and look a decent price to win outright at 4/5. Lincoln failed to score in 10 of their 23 away fixtures last campaign and conceded at least once in 91% of their matches on the road, so consider backing Eastleigh to cruise to a 2-0 or 3-0 victory at 9/1 and 29/2 respectively.

In the National League South, Concord Rangers seem to have taken inspiration from the famous plane of the same name after shooting to the top of the table in Mach speed.
Adam Flanagan’s men wasted no time dispatching Weston-super-Mare and Wealdstone in their first two fixtures of the season. They scored six times in the process – including a goal just 17 seconds into the new campaign from hitman Tony Stokes – and generally looked lively.
They travel to struggling Truro City tomorrow and look set to continue their good vein of form against the Cornish side. Marathonbet is offering Concord to score over 1.5 goals at an attractive 26/25 – a price that could prove value if Essex lads Concord remember to take their shooting boots to the south west.
At the bottom of the table, even the Wealdstone Raider’s big mouth couldn’t prevent his team slumping to a brace of defeats in their first two games. They lost 2-1 to both Bath and Concord and host fellow early stragglers Eastbourne Borough tomorrow.
The seaside club were beaten 1-0 by Dartford in a tight match last week, though Sports were left reeling a disallowed goal two minutes from time when Nathan Collier’s header was ruled out for an alleged push in the box.
Wealdstone look short in the betting at 5/4 so the stand-out punt could be ‘draw first half, Eastbourne to win at full time’ at a tasty 69/10.

In the National League North, last season’s play-off finalists Chorley have endured a sluggish start after defeats to Nuneaton and North Ferriby. But we reckon new Magpies gaffer Matt Jansen won’t stand for anymore bottom-of-the-table antics when they visit league newboys Corby Town. You can back the visitors to grab an important away win and kick-start their season at 197/100.
And if you’re in the mood for a flurry of goals this weekend, look no further than free-scoring league leaders Solihull Moors. The clinical crew from Birmingham have found the net seven times in their first two games and visit Yorkshire for a clash with North Ferriby at Grange Lane.
The hosts are also partial to sticking the ball in the onion bag – they trashed Chorley 4-0 last week – so money could be made by backing over 3.5 goals at 173/100.
