Bernard McNally returns to manage Hednesford Town

FORMER boss Bernard McNally has returned to Keys Park to replace Rob Smith, five years after leaving.

Smith and assistant Larry Chambers left Hednesford two weeks ago to go back to AFC Telford with Chris Brindley overseeing first team matters for the Pitmen since then.

However, the club have now announced that former Northern Ireland international McNally, who most recently took charge of Welsh side Port Talbot Town, has been named manager.

McNally, himself a former Telford boss, left Hednesford in September 2010 after guiding the Pitmen to the Southern Premier play-offs the season before.

Brindley will remain at Keys Park as assistant manager and a club statement read: “Hednesford Town are delighted to announce the return of former manager, Bernard McNally, to Keys Park after the recent departure of Rob Smith, Larry Chambers and Steve Wynn to .

“Bernie will take over as manager, with immediate effect, and Chris Brindley will be joining him as assistant manager to build on the sterling work that he has done in the last ten days as ‘caretaker’.

“The new management team will bring much needed continuity and is felt to exhibit the best combination of skills and experience to take the club forwards at this stage of the season.

“McNally is an experienced and highly qualified coach whose skills on the training ground will complement perfectly Chris Brindley’s knowledge of the current squad and of the North division.”
