KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS may have endured a disappointing start to the season, but they are set to receive a boost on the training pitch by the arrival of former Hearts, Falkirk and Coventry City boss Steven Pressley.
Pressley has agreed to spend a month assisting boss Gary Whild and coaches Mark Creighton and Tim Flowers in training.
Football development director Colin Gordon, who joined the Harriers board in the summer, has used his connections to bring in Pressley, who most recently was manager of League One side Coventry.
While he won’t be handling first team affairs or taking in any Kidderminster matches, it is hoped Pressley’s experience will help Kiddy’s young squad.
Harriers are bottom of the Vanarama National League and are yet to win a league game following three draws and five defeats from their eight matches.
Chairman Rod Brown said: “Colin has been able to call on Steven for a favour and we’re all excited about being able to work with him for a month.
“Given the financial situation at the club, we clearly don’t have the clout to go out and sign four or five players to bolster the squad, but we do recognise that there are some other ways that we can help.
“Gary and his staff have been working tirelessly since the summer, and although we would obviously have liked a few more points at this stage, this isn’t about putting in place massive change at the club.
“Steven’s time at the training ground for the next few weeks will not cost the club a penny, but we hope the advantages we can take from it will be a lot more lucrative as he and the staff put their minds together to try and help Kidderminster Harriers.
“It was important to do something after such a tough start to the season for the management and the team, and any difference this can make will be a big boost.”
