Southern Premier club Histon plead for new investment

Premier side have pleaded for more investment with the current board saying they have taken the club as far as they can.

The Cambridgeshire side, in ‘s top tier as recently as 2011, currently play at Step 3 and are currently 15th in the table.

The current board, elected in 2012, have confirmed the club is now debt-free with a share ownership that prevents any one individual from owning more than ten per cent.

With plans for a new 3G pitch at the Glass World Stadium, more investment is needed with the board willing to walk away if new owners can be found.

A Histon statement read: “The board is acutely aware that it needs help in order to deliver these future plans both in terms of new board members and, more urgently, in terms of financial support and investment.

“We therefore issue a public request for any interested individual or group of individuals to step forward and make themselves known to us.

“The potential for the development and growth of this club is enormous but without help we will not get there. We are in ongoing discussions with HIST (Histon Independent Supporters Trust) to see what they can do but are eager to talk to anyone else who may be interested in getting involved.

“The current board believe that they have taken the club as far as they can and are willing to step down and hand over control to others if suitable new custodians of the club can be found.”
