SALFORD CITY have enticed Gareth McClelland to join as head of player recruitment from National League side FC Halifax Town.
Despite having his career cut short at the age of 19, McClelland quickly moved into management with Maine Road and then Woodley Sports and Mossley.
He also spent time as Chester‘s chief scout and then held a similar role at Halifax, becoming a key part of the club’s recruitment process.
Cheshire based McClelland has now left the Shaymen after four years and will team up with Evo-Stik NPL Premier Salford.
A Salford statement read: “After four successful years as chief scout and head of player recruitment at Halifax, Gareth McClelland has accepted a similar role with Salford
“Gareth was soon an integral part of Halifax’s player recruitment activities and on behalf of everyone at the club we would like to extend a very warm welcome.”
