GEORGE BORG is back in football management after being confirmed as the new boss of Ryman Premier side Brentwood Town.
The former Chelmsford City, Aldershot, Braintree Town and Enfield Town boss took temporary charge of the side two weeks ago following Dean Holdsworth’s decision to step down.
He has now been confirmed as Brentwood’s permanent manager with chairman Brian Hallett telling the Brentwood Gazette: “He is the manager. I didn’t know George that well but he’s worked with Dean and he recommended him.
“I think he will do a good job. He is open to working with the youngsters we have at the club and he’s had a look around and I think he’s been impressed by the enthusiasm that’s around the club. We’ve not won in his first two matches but we’ve played very well in those games.”
Borg’s last management role was at Brentwood’s Ryman Premier rivals Enfield Town but his reign got cut short in controversial circumstances.
He was sacked hours after Enfield 3-2 defeat to Wingate & Finchley on August 25, 2014 after being accused of making anti-Semitic comments to Wingate fans – a club from London’s Jewish community.
The FA found Borg guilty of “aggravated misconduct” in January following an investigation, banning the then-Burnham Ramblers coach for five games and fining him £275.
