CARL has returned to Welsh Premier champions The New Saints as first team coach a year after leaving.

Darlington left his role as head coach last December to join side ‘s backroom staff after four years with the Saints.

He ended last season as Wrexham’s interim manager after the departure of manager Kevin Wilkin but was told his services wouldn’t be required after was appointed as boss in late April.

Now he has returned to Park Hall to team up once again with director of Craig Harrison and assistant manager Scott Ruscoe.

The Saints look all set for a record breaking tenth Welsh Premier league title and Darlington said: “When the opportunity became available to assist Craig and Scotty, I jumped at the chance.

“I’m really looking forward to joining up again with the club’s management staff and players.”

The Saints’ chief operating officer Ian Williams added: “Carl has a wealth of coaching experience not only in the Welsh Premier League but also with Wales at Junior and Youth levels.

“He will also assist in a mentoring role, providing advice and guidance for all of our coaches within the club.”
