Steve Ball appointed as Maldon & Tiptree’s new boss

MALDON & TIPTREE have announced that former and boss Steve Ball has become their new manager, replacing David Wright.

Wright, who himself replaced Stevenage-bound Kevin Watson at the start of the season, left last week to become assistant manager at Colchester United.

He has been replaced by one of his colleagues, with Ball currently coaching full-time at the Colchester academy, a role he will continue alongside his managerial duties with the Jammers.

Maldon are currently 14th in the Ryman North after the 4-4 draw with on Boxing Day and Ball’s first game in charge will be Saturday’s trip to .

A club statement read: “Maldon & Tiptree are pleased to announce Steve Ball as the club’s new first team manager.

“Steve has previous managerial experience, most recently at Leiston, however he left that role in October 2014 and he managed Stanway Rovers from 1998 until 2003.

“Ball was also a professional footballer, he played for Arsenal where he won the FA Youth Cup and Colchester United, also Steve had a brief spell playing for our local rivals, Heybridge Swifts.

“Most recently, Steve has been coaching at Colchester United’s academy on a full-time basis, a role which he will continue.”
