Maidstone United left-back Tom Mills pens new deal

‘S record appearance holder Tom Mills has signed a new two-year extension to remain at the side.

The 24-year-old defender has made 275 appearances for the Stones and will stay at the Gallagher Stadium until at least the summer of 2018.

Mills made his Maidstone debut back in August 2010 and has made the left-back position his own over the past five years.

He was a key part of the Stones side that won the Ryman Premier last season and it’s no surprise the club currently has the best defensive record in the South.

Mills said: “I didn’t have long left on my contract and I wasn’t looking at any other clubs. I’ve been here since I was 18 and Jay has put his faith in me.

“I’ve been here since before the ground was even here! The club is just growing and growing and I’m just glad to be involved in it.”

Boss Jay Saunders added: “Millsy has become part of the furniture now. Left-back is a position he has made his own and people now expect the level of performance he brings every week.

“I think he’ll be the first to admit that he took a few weeks to adjust to the National League South but all of the back five have been outstanding.”
