BOGNOR REGIS TOWN overcame Sutton United on Tuesday night to ensure that two clubs from Step 3 would be taking part in the FA Trophy quarter-finals.
The Ryman Premier side were forced to do it the hard way by their National League South visitors. Jason Prior put the Rocks in front before a controversial Stuart Fleetwood penalty levelled the scores.
It remained that way until the end of 90 minutes but Bognor stepped up a gear in extra time and an unfortunate Dean Beckwith own goal sealed the win for Jamie Howell’s side.
They will host Torquay United or Macclesfield Town in the quarter-finals and will be joined in the last eight by either Nantwich Town or Stourbridge.
The two Evo-Stik NPL Premier sides will battle it out next Tuesday after their game was postponed for a second time last night.
The only other game to survive on Tuesday saw Torquay draw 3-3 with Macclesfield. The National League pair will replay next Tuesday.
