JOSH GINNELLY channelled his inner Duncan Watmore to score a brilliant solo goal for Altrincham against Aldershot on Saturday.
The on-loan Burnley midfielder has impressed since joining Alty and showed once again why he is so highly regarded by emulating former Altrincham and current Sunderland ace Watmore.
Picking up the ball in the left-back position, the 18-year-old used his pace to sprint past one Aldershot player and down the wing before advancing towards the penalty area.
He twisted and turned to leave another Aldershot defender with no chance before firing in a left-footed shot through the legs of keeper Phil Smith.
Alty caretaker manager Neil Tolson said: “It was an unbelievable finish from a special player. He has so much ability, he’s a lovely lad and he just wants to work and improve.
“I’m sure he has a big future ahead of him and that goal is what he can do. The fans at the game witnessed a special goal, I can’t remember many times a player running that far and finishing it himself.”
