UNSUNG heroes make the world go round, often hiding in the background as others steal the spotlight.
In Non-League, they’re more important than the players themselves. We all know one. The person who doesn’t miss a meeting, who takes holidays around club commitments or the hard working website updater or programme editor perhaps who is always at the end of the phone to keep the supporters posted on what’s going on.
Our National Game Awards are all about honouring that person who doesn’t get the recognition they deserve often enough through the SCL Unsung Hero accolade.
You can help treat them to a glitzy day at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge on May 18 – but, of course, we need your help to find these overlooked and sometimes overworked heroes!
Last year we had the pleasure of the company of Derek Vernum, who was honoured for 55 years of service to football as a player, coach, administrator, scout, president and director of the Northamptonshire FA.
So who deserves the gong this year? Well, that’s where you come in – tell us who we simply can’t afford to ignore.
