Truro City need crowds of over 800 says chairman Peter Masters

will need to attract crowds of over 800 next season if they are promoted from the South, according to chairman Peter Masters.

Despite Tuesday night’s 3-1 home defeat to , the White Tigers are still sitting pretty in fourth with games in hand over their rivals.

The Weston game was watched by 472 supporters but Masters says that must improve, and hope it starts with Saturday’s crunch clash against . Their highest gate of the season came in February as 785 turned up for the match against .

Masters revealed last week that Truro would go full-time if they won promotion to the National League despite it doubling their playing budget.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s home game with third-place Maidstone, Masters told BBC Radio Cornwall: “We’re hoping for a very big crowd.

“I think last week Maidstone picked up a crowd of nearly 3,000 – if we can get even 800 we’d be grateful.

“We need at least 800 because that’s the sort of crowds we’ll need if we get in the National League.

“I won’t be disappointed if we just reach the play-offs – we’ve had a good season, we can’t argue about that.”
