Hull United booted out of Northern Counties East League

TROUBLED Hull United have been relegated from the after failing to secure a home ground for next season.

The Citizens, only formed 11 years ago, have finished their fixtures for the season and are currently sitting eighth in the NCEL Division One.

They were recently deducted 12 points for fielding two players “registered under the wrong status” which followed an earlier three point deduction.

But regardless of where they finish, they will be dropping below Step 6 next season after the NCEL said the club had not confirmed where they would be playing.

United, managed by former Birmingham City and United midfielder Curtis Woodhouse, were forced to play their last few home games away after falling out with the landlords of former home Dene Park before a brief spell at Rugby League side Hull KR’s KC Lightstream Stadium proved too costly.

And with the club unable to sort out a groundshare deal ahead of the March 31 deadline, it was confirmed they will be relegated.

A Northern Counties East League statement read: “The League Management Board at its meeting on 14th April 2016 considered League Rules 2.3.2 and 2.6 Membership Requirements in respect of Hull United FC.

“The FA/League requirement is that all clubs must submit details by 31st March details of the ground to the standard required (Rule 2.6) for an uninterrupted period of the minimum of the next Playing Season (Rule 2.3.2).

“Hull United FC failed to provide any documentation to confirm a ground for season 2016-17 of either ownership, lease or ground-share to the satisfaction of the board.

“The board therefore decided that Hull United FC, not having received a grading certificate by 31st March and not having a alternative proposal approved at the relevant board meeting, shall be relegated forthwith at the end of the playing season to a level determined by the Association.”
