MARGATE have said goodbye to six players as the National League South club plan for next season working with a reduced budget.
The Kent club’s future at Step 2 was secured on the final day with Havant & Waterlooville slipping into the last relegation spot.
However, it looks like boss Nikki Bull will have a busy summer ahead of him with six players already confirmed as leaving Hartsdown Park.
Benefactor Bob Laslett recently stepped down as chairman and Gate will now have to cut their cloth accordingly which has seen a number of players leave.
Jamie Stuart, Danny Green, Kane Wills and Chris Lewington have all departed at the end of their contracts while Jake Goodman and Christian Jolley have left the club by mutual consent.
Both players had a year to run on their current deals however Goodman expressed his desire to get back into full-time football while Jolley asked to leave because of travelling times.
Boss Bull said: “I would like to wish the boys all the best and thank them for all their hard work during their time at Margate but now it is about looking ahead and rebuilding a different team under the new financial climate that the club will be operating in.”
