Lincoln City sign former Cambridge City goal ace Adam Marriott

DANNY COWLEY believes new Lincoln City striker Adam Marriott can recapture his old form after signing for the Imps.

Marriott, 25, became Cowley’s fourth signing of the summer at Sincil Bank following the boss’ move from .

The forward started his career at Cambridge United but made his name at neighbours , scoring a whopping 45 times in the 2013-14 season to become one of ‘s hottest properties.

Stevenage swooped for his signature in the summer of 2014 but unfortunately for Marriott, his time at Broadhall Way was marred by injuries.

He was restricted to just 22 league appearances and three goals during his two-year spell at the club but will now be hoping to get his career back on track with Lincoln.

Boss Cowley told the Lincolnshire Echo: “I’m delighted to bring him to the club. He’s someone we know well.

“Adam is a goalscorer, he’s got good movement, clever hold-up play and link play. He’s sharp and is a really composed finisher.

“He had tremendous success at Cambridge City, where he averaged virtually a goal a game.

“He moved to Stevenage where he unfortunately picked up a nasty knee injury which really reduced his game time. But he came back towards the end of last season and played in the last few games.”
