NUNEATON TOWN have confirmed that club captain Shane Byrne has been placed on the transfer list.
The 23-year-old joined Boro last summer after helping Corby Town lift the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier title.
The former Leicester City youngster had also played for Bury and Bray Wanderers before his move to Corby and he has also represented the Republic of Ireland at U17 and U19 level.
Byrne was made Nuneaton captain halfway through last season, replacing Joe Maguire, and he was a big part of Kevin Wilson’s side.
He made 46 appearances for the Liberty Way outfit, scoring five goals, and it was announced in May that the club had taken up their option to extend Byrne’s deal for another 12 months.
However, the Dublin-born midfielder has now been placed on the transfer list with Nuneaton circulating it to all National League, League One and League Two clubs.
A club statement added: “Due to a change in Shane’s circumstances the club and the player have been unable to reach a mutual agreement to resolve this change in circumstances, which regrettably gives the club no other option than to make the player available for transfer.”
