FORMER Plymouth Argyle, Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday boss Paul Sturrock has joined South West Peninsula League Premier side Plymouth Parkway as an advisor.
The 59-year-old’s last job in football ended in December after he parted company with Yeovil Town with the club in the League Two relegation zone.
However, he has agreed to join Step 6 side Parkway after the recent appointment of Mark Russell as the club’s new chairman.
The ex-Scotland international, who has had two spells as manager of Argyle, will advise Parkway boss Kevin Hendry, who also looks after the club’s reserve side.
“I first met with Mark to discuss Plymouth Parkway a couple of weeks ago and straight away I could see the passion to drive the club forward,” Sturrock said.
“I am delighted to be joining such a great club with ambition to grow, and am looking forward to helping the club succeed.”
Russell added: “Paul is someone I have known from his days at Plymouth Argyle and spoke to him while he was in charge at Argyle on many occasions.
“When I had the initial conversations with Paul about joining Parkway, I was excited that someone of Paul’s calibre would be interested to join our club.
“I have just joined the club and was also very keen to make sure Kevin knew that I wanted Paul to come and offer his knowledge and experience to help the club progress and not to put Kevin under any pressure.”
