GARY MILLS says his playing budget may suffer after Wrexham secured their long-term future at the Racecourse Stadium.
The National League outfit have regained control of their home ground, signing a 99-year lease after the Supporters’ Trust, the club’s owners, voted in favour back in March.
The Red Dragons dropped into Non-League in 2008 and ran into financial difficulties which led to Glyndwr University taking control of the Racecourse and Wrexham Supporters’ Trust taking over the club.
The club’s future is now secure although chief executive Don Bircham believes regaining control of the Racecourse has resulted in a shortfall of £200,000.
While that may mean less resources for boss Mills, he is looking on the bright side and reckons the news could be “the start of something successful”.
Mills said: “It’s about what’s right for the club and the way forward. When you make the move like the football club have someone has to suffer a little bit and that’s possibly me slightly. But that’s not an issue to me.
“My job is to make sure I put a team out here to go and win a game of football. It’s a great move. I feel it’s all going well and hopefully this is the start of something successful.”
