NORTHERN LEAGUE Division One club Penrith are again searching for a new boss after going through two managers in a week!
The Bonny Blues, who finished 14th in the Step 5 division last season, parted company with Matt Henney last Thursday, ending his four-year spell in charge.
They turned to ex-Carlisle United and Gretna defender Mark Birch as their new boss but he only lasted one game – Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Jarrow Roofing – before stepping down.
The Frenchfield Park outfit have been forced to begin another manager search and Jim Nichols has been appointed as caretaker boss.
Nichols’ first game only lasted 24 minutes after the club’s fixture at Ashington in the Northern League had to be abandoned following a serious injury to the home side’s Damien Stevens.
Following his exit just six days into his reign, Birch said: “After a lot of thought and consideration i have decided to commit my own future development to the Carlisle United accademy.
“I am flattered that a club with the tradition of Penrith AFC showed interest in me to be their manager. I wish Penrith AFC all the best the best for the future.”
