Macclesfield Town sign York City keeper Scott Flinders on loan

TOWN have added some competition to their goalkeeping ranks after signing Scott Flinders on loan from .

Experienced stopper Flinders, 30, has signed an initial 28-day loan and will remain at the Moss Rose until October 18 after falling out of favour at York.

Flinders started the season as the number one at Bootham Crescent but was replaced by Kyle Letheren before he was banned for five games after being found guilty of racially abusing AFC Wimbledon striker Lyle Taylor during a game last season.

The keeper’s ban is now up and, after failing to even make the bench for York’s defeat to Dover on Saturday, he has made the temporary switch to league rivals Macclesfield.

The Silkmen will be hoping Flinders can battle it out with current keeper Craig Ross for the number one jersey and he will be available for Saturday’s trip to .

Flinders comes with great pedigree having been an ever present for York in League Two last season after joining the club in the summer of 2015.

Before that, he spent six years at following spells with Gillingham, Brighton, Yeovil, Blackpool and Falkirk after beginning his career at Barnsley and Crystal Palace.
