SUTTON UNITED’S Dan Wishart has got his wish, moving into full-time after agreeing to sign for ambitious .

The left-sided player, signed from half way through the 2014-15 season, was named in the South team of the year last term as Sutton claimed the league title.

The 24-year-old, who also picked up an cap against Slovakia in June, was in line to make his 100th appearance for Sutton on Saturday but Rovers came in with an offer the U’s couldn’t refuse.

Wishart has been attracting interest from a number of clubs with his performances for Sutton and only a hamstring injury prevented him from possibly moving into the Football League on transfer deadline day in August.

He has, however, earned a move into the professional ranks and joins a Rovers side that are desperate to win promotion into the Football League.

Sutton boss Paul Doswell said: ”It’s a good move for both the club and Dan – it’s a substantial fee, with possible add-ons.

“Dan gets his wish to give up his job and concentrate on a full-time career which will hopefully see him realise his ambition to play in the Football League, possibly with Forest Green who have made clear their ambitions for promotion.

“We’d like to thank Forest Green for the professional way they have conducted the negotiations and look forward to welcoming them in the on Saturday week, when we have a gentlemen’s agreement that Dan won’t play.”
