STRUGGLING Godalming Town have turned to former Guildford City boss Dean Thomas as their new boss as they look to climb out of trouble in the Ryman South.
The G’s have been searching for a new manager following the resignation of Andy Hunt after the 10-0 defeat to Carshalton Athletic last month.
Town have lost ten of their 12 opening league games this season and are already six points adrift of safety at the foot of the table.
Godalming will be hoping Thomas, who quit as manager of Combined Counties League side Guildford at the end of September, can inspire a change in fortunes.
Thomas had been in charge of City for 12 months, helping to rebuild the club after taking over with just five players on the books.
Godalming hairman Kevin Young said: “It is my pleasure to announce that Dean Thomas is our new first team manager with immediate effect. Dean brings with him Chris Witts as first team coach.
“He has a KNVB international coaching licence, UEFA B licence and has scouting experience with professional and Non-League clubs. Dean joins us after being manager at Guildford City FC. We would like to welcome them to the club.
“Our big thanks goes to Darren Wheeler who has been caretaker first team manager for the past few weeks. Thanks to Dean for stepping in on Saturday due to Darren being suspended. We wish Dean and Chris all the best in the new roles at the club.”
