AFC FYLDE boss Dave Challinor watched on as his side thrashed Boston United 9-2 at the weekend – and quickly moved to secure the services of another striker!
The Coasters, flying high at the top of the National League North, went 1-0 down against the Pilgrims at Mill Farm before coming back to secure a handsome victory.
But Challinor was still looking to improve his side’s attack and has added Tranmere Rovers forward Darren Stephenson on loan until January 7.
Stephenson joined Rovers in the summer from Chorley, where he netted 21 times in the National League North last term.
The 23-year-old has started three games and made eight substitute appearances for Tranmere this season and will get some much needed match fitness at Fylde.
Stephenson told the club’s website: “I’m very much looking forward to getting started now. I’ve had a look around the ground and heard what the manager and the club are trying to do and I want to be a part of that.”
Tranmere boss Micky Mellon added: “We feel that it is important for Darren to go out and play some regular first team football to aid his development.
