DEAN KEATES says ‘s 3-0 home defeat to Town on Tuesday night was “embarrassing”.

The Dragons were well beaten by John Askey’s side as second half goals from Danny Rowe, Mitch Hancox and Danny Whitaker secured the win.

Wrexham’s evening was summed up late on as striker Jordan White smashed a penalty over the bar on his home debut.

The result left the north Wales side 15th in the and boss Keates pulled no punches after the final whistle.

“Undefendable, embarrassing, it was nowhere near good enough for this club,” Keates said.

“There’s no excuse for what’s been served up. We had the little high against Forest Green, but since then it’s been a rapid decline and nowhere near good enough.”

Following the 3-1 victory over then-leaders Forest Green two weeks ago, the Dragons lost at Lincoln before the disappointing performance on Tuesday night.

Former club captain Keates, who replaced as manager in October, wants to see a reaction and says his squad are now playing for their futures.

“Performances like that make my job easier come the end of the season,” the boss added. “With performances like that they won’t be part of this football club going forward.

“They know that so obviously it’s up to them now. They’ve got the chance to go and impress over the next 20-odd games.”
