Having achieved a mixed bag of results following their FA Cup exploits over Championship side Ipswich Town, National League leaders Lincoln City have an opportunity on Saturday to enhance their promotion chances at home to a struggling Woking. However, with Dagenham & Redbridge having won their last four league encounters, the Daggers will be looking to maintain the pressure at the top of the table, with John Still’s men travelling to relegation threatened Southport. Meanwhile, in what could well be the game of the weekend, promotion chasing Dover Athletic take on Wrexham, with Dean Keates’ men visiting Crabble unbeaten in their last five.
With a whole host of teams still battling for survival at the bottom of the table, York City‘s encounter with Maidstone United could well be one to keep an eye on, with just three points separating the duo in the relegation places at present. Meanwhile, a home game with Eastleigh represents a good opportunity for Adam Lockwood’s Guiseley to earn a vital three points. Having scored just 18 league goals all season, things are looking bleak for North Ferriby, with the pressure on former Hull City youngster Ryan Kendall to rediscover his scoring touch.
The likes of Bromley and Chester will still be holding onto hopes of reaching the play-offs, although fixtures with fellow promotion hopefuls Tranmere Rovers and Gateshead are certainly not going to be easy.
Runaway leaders AFC Fylde will be the overwhelming favourites for yet another three points as they take on a struggling AFC Telford at Mill Farm, with Dave Challinor’s side looking to bounce back from their surprising demolition at the hands of Salford last time around. Elsewhere, with both teams having won their last three league fixtures, Salford’s encounter with mid-table Gloucester City could be trickier than it looks on paper for Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley. The in-form Jordan Hulme and Burnley loanee George Green will once again be the danger men for the home side.
Elsewhere, as one of the in-form teams in the whole division thanks to four wins from their last five, FC Halifax Town will be much fancied to overcome a Nuneaton Town side who are without a win in their last four National League North outings. With both Stalybridge Celtic and Altrincham all but down already, Bradford Park Avenue have the chance to jump out of the bottom three with a win over Gainsborough Trinity.
National League South:
In comparison to the National League North, things in the South of the country are a lot less clear cut, with just ten points separating the top five teams. League leaders Maidenhead still hold a three-point lead over Ebbsfleet, however a tricky away trip to Hemel Hempstead could well see the chasing pack gain further ground on Alan Devonshire’s men. Meanwhile, in-form Dartford will be looking to continue their fantastic form, with a sixth consecutive win at Gosport Borough a distinct possibility given the form of Alex Pike’s team over recent weeks.
The Boro are just one of a number of teams hoping to collect crucial points in a bid to steer clear of relegation this season, however tough away trips for both Bishop’s Stortford and Whitehawk mean that the bottom of the table could have a familiar feel to it come Monday night. The duo take on Hungerford Town and Ebbsfleet respectively.
