PATIENCE has paid off for Nuneaton Town boss Tommy Wright after he finally convinced highly-rated Brady Hickey to sign for the club.

The midfielder will make the step up from NPL Premier outfit , who he joined after impressing in run in 2014-15.

His performances for Barwell have seen scouts flocking to Kirkby Road and he had a trial with 2015-16 Premier League champions Leicester City.

While a move into the League hasn’t materialised quite yet, the 21-year-old will move up a division with Nuneaton next term.

A long-term admirer, Boro boss Wright told the club’s website: “Brady is a player that has been on my personal radar and also the club’s radar for two years.

“He’s scored 20+ goals over back-to-back seasons and is one of the most highly-rated prospects in football. He is a great addition to the squad and arrives here with plenty of belief in his own ability.

“I am sure that he will flourish with us; he’s been linked with Premier League and Football League clubs and will be focusing on adapting to full-time football with us in order to achieve his goals and career ambitions.”

Hickey added: “I’ve seen the quality of the signings coming in and also the talent already at the club, and that was key to me deciding to come here.

“Being around such quality and in what is an extremely positive environment will only help me improve as a player. I’m really excited by this move and I just can’t wait to get started now.

“This is going to be a step up in standard for me but it is a challenge that I am ready for at this stage in my career. There is no reason why we can’t be up there amongst the leading pack this season.”
