Bank Holiday Monday: Evo-Stik round-up

Warrington Town continued their formidable start to the new campaign yesterday as they cruised to a 4-0 win at Marine.
The Evo-Stik Premier Division table-toppers had to huff and puff, with Joshua Hine’s 33rd minute strike the only thing separating the teams at the break. However, a spurt of second-half goals from Sean Williams, who grabbed a pair of penalties, and Connor Hughes secured yet another league win for Paul Carden’s men.
They sit a point ahead of Grantham Town and Shaw Lane, both of whom laboured to victories yesterday. A Damian Reeves strike was enough to see Shaw Lane past Farsley Celtic, while Grantham won a five goal thriller at Matlock Town.
Grantham were 3 goals to the good after 34 minutes, Jordan Hempenstall, Curtis Burrows and Lee Shaw all on target; but had to withstand a comeback from Matlock, who grabbed goals from Marc Anthony Newsham and Shaun Harrad but ultimately couldn’t steal a share of the points.
Buxton claimed a thumping 4-1 win at high-flying Ashton United, a Liam Hardy hat-trick and a Gregory Young strike seeing them past the hosts, despite Matthew Chadwick’s second-half consolation. Meanwhile, continued their fine start to the season with a 2-1 win at struggling Rushall Olympic. Two goals in 10 minutes from Leon Broadhurst rendered Daniel Waldron’s goal obsolete.
A Whitby Town side lying in 21st place were the only team in the bottom five to claim a point, drawing 1-1 with Workington. Kieran Weledji put the hosts in front in the 56th minute, only for Workington’s Matthew Douglas to draw his side level three minutes later.
Seventh place Witton Albion were soundly beaten by yesterday, James Poole and Joshua Hancock securing a 2-0 win for the visitors. Stafford Rangers, one place below Witton in the table, also suffered defeat. Matt Dodds’s 61st mintue strike claiming victory for Hednesford Town in “El Staffico”.
Nantwich Town’s mid-table contest with Barwell ended in a stalemate, Matthew Bell putting Nantwich in front before Tom Bates and a Clayton McDonald own goal turned things around for Barwell. However, Harry Clayton’s 90th minute equaliser secured Nantwich a share of the spoils.
There were 2-0 wins for both and Coalville Town yesterday. Goals from Aaron Birch and Malachi Lavell-Moore gave Sutton Coldfield the win over Halesowen Town, while a Blair Anderson brace ensured Coalville went home winners against Mickleover Sports.
Finally, Lancaster City made sure Stalybridge Celtic’s wait for a first away point of the season continued, Thomas Kilifin’s 21st minute goal the difference between the two sides.
In the Evo-Stik North, South Shields maintained their 100% start to the season with a 3-1 win at Scarborough Athletic. A Matthew Pattison goal and a Luke Sullivan brace cancelled out Nathan Valentine’s lone Scarborough strike. Julio Arca’s first start of the season was another highlight for South Shields, as they solidified their position at the top of table.
There were big wins for Colne and , as the former beat 4-0 and the latter thumped Radcliffe Borough 3-0. A Brace from Daniel Wilkins helped Colne on their way yesterday.
Second place Droylsden claimed a 2-0 win at home to Mossley, while fourth place Atherton Collieries could only draw 1-1 at Trafford.
Tadcaster Albion completed a thrilling comeback at  yesterday. Jacob Buchanan and Aaron Martin had the hosts two up after six minutes, only for second-half strikes from Conor Sellars, Aiden Savory and Danny Frost securing a 3-2 win for Tadcaster.
Fifth place  drew 2-2 with Colwyn Bay, and  against  finished with the same scoreline. Meanwhile, Ossett Town won the Ossett derby with a 2-1 win at Ossett Albion. Martin Pembleton had Town ahead after 10 minutes, only for Danny South to draw Albion level with seven minutes left. Josh Snowden ensured Ossett Town had the last laugh however, scoring a 90th minute winner.
Kendal Town and Clitheroe shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, while Glossop North End against Hyde United finished goalless.
In the Evo-Stik South, third place Alvechurch continued their strong start to the season with a terrific 6-2 win at A Daniel Dubidat hat-trick and a Thomas Turton penalty brace helped them on their way.
Leaders Cleethorpes Town eased to a 3-0 win at Spalding United yesterday, while joint-top Basford United bagged a 1-0 win against Loughborough Dynamo. There was also a big win for Frickley Athetic who beat Chasetown 5-0, Gavin Allott scoring four of them.
Fifth place Newcastle Town won a tight contest 3-2 at Kidsgrove Athletic, but fourth place Peterbrough Sports could only draw 1-1 with Stamford. Meanwhile, Carlton Town and Lincoln United shared two goals, and Sheffield FC and Stockbridge Park Steels shared four.
Bedworth United beat Corby Town 2-0 thanks to goals from Levi Rowley and Iyseden Christie, and Belper Town beat struggling Gresley 2-1. Leek Town overcame Market Drayton Town by the same scoreline.
