AFC Fylde’s Rhys Taylor delighted after back-to-back clean sheets

By Adam Ellis
AFC goalkeeper Rhys Taylor is savouring a Bank Holiday weekend to remember after waiting until Saturday for his first clean sheet of the season before making it back-to-back against on Monday.

As Danny Rowe celebrated becoming the Coasters all-time record goalscorer after victories over Hartlepool and Barrow, Taylor himself was left with a smile on his face.

After conceding 12 goals in their opening five matches, Taylor expressed his content at keeping things locked up at the back as Fylde moved away from the relegation zone and into 17th.

“We managed to get a 1-0 win and it’s the first since I joined last summer,” the 27-year-old said of the win over Barrow at Mill Farm.

“It was a horrible game but a great result. I think we will have to get used to games like that in this league.

“A lot of the goals we have been conceding have been down to bad luck.

“The ball bounces around in the box and sometimes it falls to one of their players, sometimes it falls to one of yours.

“We have had a bit more luck over the last two games and have kept clean sheets, so hopefully we can keep this run going.”
