There could be new league leaders in the Evo-Stik League North as South Shields look to leapfrog Droylsden into top spot when they travel to Colne this evening.
Dave Pace’s side went first last night after they beat Brighouse Town, but The Marines can return to the summit if they see off struggling Colne.
With Ramsbottom United and Glossop North End also not in action tonight, Hyde United could steal a march on the sides above them to go as high as second with a win at seventh placed Colwyn Bay.
Fellow promotion hopefuls Scarborough Athletic are also away from home, and gunning for a second consecutive league win, as they travel to Ossett Albion – who are three places below them in eleventh.
Prescot Cables are still reeling from a disappointing defeat at Mossley on Saturday, and will want to bounce back against lowly Radcliffe Borough who have won just once all season.
Meanwhile, Mossley will want to build on the Liam Ellis brace that saw off Cables when they host Tadcaster Albion, who also suffered a defeat to Radcliffe at the weekend.
Ossett Town take on winless Goole AFC at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds, with the home side still on the hunt for their first win point of the season.
Skelmersdale United, languishing in 18th, host Clitheroe, who are four places above them, and fellow strugglers Trafford also face a difficult trip when they visit Kendal Town, who are fresh from their confidence-boosting draw with leaders Droylsden.
