Newcastle Town can take advantage of a reduced fixture list in the Evo-Stik South as they travel to struggling Belper Town this evening.
League leaders Basford United are being closely chased by Cleethorpes Town, with just a point separating the pair, but neither side are in action tonight so Newcastle could close the gap on the leaders to just three points.
Alvechurch have their own promotion aspirations, and have their eyes on the top too. They go to Loughborough Dynamo, who are 13th, knowing a win could see them go above Bob Askey’s side if they fail to win, and into third.
Leek Town are a place and a point behind The Church, but have a game in hand, so a win away at Stocksbridge Park Steels could prove to be huge at this early stage of the season as they plot a promotion bid.
Spalding United will be looking to build on Saturday’s victory against Bedworth United as they host Lincoln United, who were thrashed 3-0 at Romulus over the weekend.
Further down the division are Sheffield FC, and they are hosting Frickley Athletic, who have enjoyed a decent start to their campaign. The Blues sit eighth after six fixtures, despite Saturday’s exciting 3-2 defeat to Basford.
In a battle at the bottom of the table, winless Gresley FC welcome Market Drayton Town, with the Gingerbread men also still desperately searching for their first three point haul of the campaign.
