Barrow midfielder Harvey set to join Guiseley for £10,000

By Matt Bishop
midfielder Alex-Ray Harvey is set to join fellow strugglers in a deal worth a reported £10,000.
The 27-year-old had a transfer request accepted by the Barrow hierarchy, who then accepted an offer for Harvey from ‘s side after having their valuation met.
The Lions are now negotiating personal terms with the midfielder, with a deal expected to be finalised before the weekend’s action.
Speaking to The Mail, AFC managing director Andrew Casson said: “He [Harvey] has put in a transfer request and we have accepted a bid for him, which is in the range of the valuation we had.
“As far as the agent tells me, he hasn’t completed coming to terms with them yet. He is on the way out but he is not out yet.”
In his five-and-a-half years with Barrow, Harvey made over 219 appearances for the club, and Carson believes the thought of linking up with former boss Paul Cox again is the reason behind the midfielder’s decision to leave.
The director said: “Obviously, Alex-Ray Harvey has an affinity for a former manager, that is understandable given his role in that system, but outside of that, I have not been told anything directly about why he would want to leave.”
Meanwhile, former Cambridge United man Liam Hughes has also submitted a request to leave Holker , which has been accepted, although there has been no interest in the midfielder thus far,
Carson said: “We have accepted the request, subject to squad availability, but we haven’t had any offers or loan requests in for him. We’re seeing where that one goes.
“Both of the [transfer] requests were very generic, in terms of seeking a new challenge, and things like that.”
