It was another exciting day in the National League on Saturday, as Sutton hit the top, the race for the play-offs intensified and the battle to avoid the drop took more twists and turns.
Below, we selected the best performers from the weekend’s action. Do you agree, or is there somebody unlucky to miss out? Let us know at The @NonLeaguePaper.
Scott Davies
Goalkeeper – Tranmere Rovers
A string of fine saves from the Rovers goalkeeper kept Maidstone at bay, and helped Micky Mellon’s side keep a clean sheet in what was an impressive 4-0 victory at Prenton Park
Wes Atkinson
Defender – Solihull Moors
The defender capped a fine display for Moors during Saturday’s draw with in-form Gateshead by grabbing his team a second-half equaliser.
Jack Holland
Defender – Bromley
As impressive as ever, Holland was rock solid for Bromley as they won well at Barrow. The Ravens are now level on points with seventh place Boreham Wood, outside the play-off spots on goal difference.
Kenny Clark
Defender – Ebbsfleet United
After a disappointing midweek defeat at Woking, Ebbsfleet bounced back impressively against Hartlepool to win 3-0. Clark was inspirational for Daryl McMahon’s men.
Zaine Francis-Angol
Defender – AFC Fylde
The Coasters defender was effective in both boxes as Dave Challinor’s side claimed an impressive three points at former league leaders Dover.
Luke Young
Midfielder – Torquay United
The Gulls hadn’t won back-to-back games all season before Saturday, and Young was behind all of Torquay’s best moves in a fine win over Leyton Orient.
Tom Champion
Midfielder – Boreham Wood
Champion was a warhorse for Wood as they ended Woking’s recent run of form, and kept pace with their fellow promotion hopefuls, in Saturday’s 2-1 win.
Ryan Lloyd
Midfielder – Macclesfield
Macc’s Lloyd produced a combative performance on the left, and capped off his afternoon by scoring a wonder goal from his own half!
James Rowe
Forward – Aldershot Town
Wrexham came to Aldershot top of the league, but Rowe was the pick of the performers as the silky Shots stunned the Dragons.
Michael Cheek
Forward – Dagenham & Redbridge
Two goals from Cheek helped John Still‘s men sink Chester with ease, as two further goals from Sam Ling and Luke Howell saw the Daggers claim their biggest away win in 11 months.
Andy Cook
Forward – Tranmere Rovers
While Davies was strong between the sticks for Tranmere, Cook was the star at the other end of the pitch. A goal and two assists for the experience attacker meant Rovers ran amok over Maidstone.
Top Boss – Dave Challinor
AFC Fylde
