There was no Messi-ing about – Dave Frecklington couldn’t possibly lavish any more praise on Kidderminster Harriers for the way they tore his Gainsborough Trinity side apart on Saturday – even describing them as a ‘Non-League Barcelona’!
Frecklington was left in awe after second-half goals from Joe Ironside, Fraser Horsfall and Declan Weeks powered the National League North promotion hopefuls to a comfortable 3-0 victory at Aggborough.
“Let’s not beat around it, what a side they are,” he said of John Eustace’s men. “We knew what they were all about but that was a different level in what we were up against.
“They are like a Non-League Barcelona the way they play. It doesn’t matter how you set up, we had to change formation three times to try and tackle it!
“In every position they are really strong and my team can use it as a learning exercise as that is the level if you want to get promoted.”
Harriers are now unbeaten in their last six which has lifted them into the play-offs while Gainsborough lie just a point above the drop.
