Following their relegation from League Two, Chesterfield have transfer listed last seasons top goalscorer Kristian Dennis.
The 28-year-old is reported to have turned down a new contract at the Proact Stadium and has informed new Spireites boss Martin Allen of his determination to continue playing in the Football League.
Dennis was in prolific form in front of goal for Chesterfield this season, scoring 19 times but was unable to prevent the Derbyshire side from dropping out of League Two.
In a statement on the club’s official website, Allen said, “We will place him on the transfer list from today and wait to see if we have any offers that match our valuation.
We agreed that if this doesn’t happen, he would be more than happy to sit down and talk about a new contract and continue playing for Chesterfield FC”
Dennis joined Chesterfield from Stockport County in 2016, after netting 25 goals in 60 games for the Greater Manchester club. The striker spent the 2015-16 season on loan at National League side Macclesfield, where he scored 29 times in what was a prolific campaign.
