The Football Supporters Federation Away Day Experience winner is Kings Langley
The Away Day Experience of the Year award made its bow this year – and Kings Langley couldn’t have been prouder to be the first recipients.
The idea for the honour came from our good friends at the Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) and recognises those clubs who go the extra mile in making away fans welcome in the top four levels of the Non-League game.
Due to the varying facilities and resources across Steps 1 to 4, a judging panel decided the winning club at each level with those clubs receiving an award from the FSF and The Non-League Paper.
The winner at Step 1 was Tranmere Rovers, Step 2 – Bognor Regis Town, Step 3 – Kings Langley and Step 4 – Bamber Bridge.
Hertfordshire outfit Kings then claimed the overall prize.
“We’re really privileged to have won this award,” said Darren Eliot, director at the Southern League South club.
“In terms of our amenities, our meteoric rise means that we haven’t got the infrastructure that other clubs have.
“Maybe our toilets aren’t the best in the world. Maybe our bar’s not as good.
“But what we do is we’re always very respectful, so that when people come to us, we greet them with a smile and we’re really pleased to see them. We want the word to spread that we’re a good club and a nice place to visit.
“From what I understand, some of the votes we got were from clubs in our own division, so that’s really nice.
“For your peers to give you an award means that all those hard-working days have been worthwhile.
“I’m still pinching myself. If you asked around the room (at the awards ceremony), not many of them would know who Kings Langley are, and it’s great for us to be recognised amongst them.”
