York City have continued preparations for a possible promotion push next season by signing striker Macaulay Langstaff from National League side Gateshead.
Langstaff only played five times for Gateshead last season but enjoyed two loan spells with National League North side Blyth Spartans.
The 21-year-old is the fourth player to leave Gateshead for Bootham Crescent this season, following the departures of Russ Penn, Jordan Burrow, and Wes York.
York manager Martin Gray told the club’s official website, “Macaulay is a young, up-and-coming, centre-forward who is very quick around the box and a good finisher.
“He was a late starter in the game and Gateshead were desperate to keep him.”
York finished in 11th position in the National League North table last season, five points adrift of the play-off positions.
