Veteran striker Scott Vernon has completed a move to Cleethorpes Town for the upcoming season having been released by Grimsby Town.
One of eleven players to be released by the Mariners, Vernon brings 16 years of Football League and SPL experience to Marcus Newell’s side.
The 34-year-old makes the move to the Linden Club outfit who are looking to improve on their tenth-placed finish last season in the Evo-Stik South.
Now of the Evo-Stik East following the FA’s restructure of Step 3 and Step 4, the former Shrewsbury Town and Aberdeen forward will lead the line for the Owls.
Career highlights for Vernon including scoring the winning goal for Oldham Athletic which knocked Manchester City out of the FA Cup in 2005 and was promoted to the Championship with Blackpool as play-off winners in 2007.
