Widnes joint boss Steve Akrigg “embarrassed” by four reds cards in league defeat

It was a night to forget for yesterday as they finished their West fixture against with just seven players left on the pitch.
Widnes had four players sent off as they went down 1-0 at home.
Jay Roberts was the first to head back to the dressing room early in the second half for a poor challenge on Alex Lingard.
Danny Ventre was then dismissed in the 74th minute before Pete Williams scored Kidsgrove’s winner two minutes from time.
There were nine minutes of injury time added on which saw Michael Grogan and captain Kev Pollard sent off to leave joint manager Steve Akrigg furious.
“From my point-of-view, it’s a frustrating loss but getting four lads sent off is an absolute embarrassment,” he told the club’s website.
“It’s like a game of FIFA. It’s ridiculous and it shouldn’t happen at any level. It doesn’t happen at Sunday League so it certainly shouldn’t happen here. The lads need to take a good look at themselves.
“It’s a total lack of discipline and you can’t tolerate that in .
“We’ve had a difficult start to the season but regardless of how frustrated you are, you can’t let it get the better of you and that’s what happened tonight.”
