Egham Town begin search for another new manager

are looking for their third manager of the season after Ashley Smith resigned following Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to .
Smith, who took over at the Runnymede Stadium in September following the departure of Simon Lane, has taken just five points from a possible 36, leaving the Sarnies in 19th place in the Bostik League South Central Division and with the worst goal difference of all three Isthmian divisions.
He leaves along with assistant Sean Kelleher and coach Jack Porter.
Detailing his short tenure in a statement, the club said: “Smith joined the club in September and immediately made a name for himself by guiding his new charges, in his first game, to a 1-0 win against local rivals Staines Town in the .
“That was followed by a spirited draw against in the League and excellent performances against Bostik Premier in the next round of the FA Cup.
“However some good performances in cup competitions were not reflected in the league, only five points being taken from a dozen games.
“Using, and frequently being frustrated by, the use of loan players meant that, despite some sparkling individual performances from the loanees, there was little consistency in selection, which was reflected in results that saw three goals or more being conceded nine times in his 21 games in charge.
“With a relegation six-pointer coming up at bottom side on Tuesday it is important for Egham Town to get back to winning ways.
“Egham Town Club Ltd thank Ashley, and his team (Kelleher and  Porter) for their unstintingly hard work for the club and wish all three gentlemen the very best for the future.”
