Solihull make Maxwell transfer permanent

Luke Maxwell says it was a “no-brainer” to make his loan move to high-flying permanent.

The 21-year-old has committed his future to Moors until the end of the 2019/2020 season after enjoying a successful loan spell from Birmingham City over the first half of the season.

Maxwell has played a key role in Tim Flowers’ side, who sit fourth in the , making 30 appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals.

“I’m over the moon to have signed for the club on a permanent deal,” Maxwell said.

“For me it was a no brainer to sign. I’ve enjoyed every moment of my loan here – I look forward to coming in everyday for training, which is always at a high standard because of the Gaffer, Quinny (James Quinn) and Gaz (Gary Whild).

“We’ve got a really good group of lads that all get along and there’s a real togetherness.”

Flowers, too, was delighted to get his man, adding: “I’m absolutely delighted. Fortunately for us, Luke’s now our player and he was a player that we identified in the summer as one that we definitely wanted.

“I was at when he was a kid there and when he was actually sold to Birmingham and we followed him with interest – Gary (Whild) and myself.

“When you look at him, he’s built like a decathlete. People forget how old he is – he’s only a very young man.

“There’s lots to come from him. He joins a very powerful squad at the minute and, in terms of his own midfield department, there are some seriously good footballers in the mix there.

“He will definitely play a big part this season in terms of starting and coming off the bench. He always has an impact when he comes on.

“He’s one that we’ve identified as also for the future – for the now, but for the future as well.

“I know he’s delighted to be here, he’s loved every minute of it and enjoys the way we work. He’s a big acquisition for us.”
